In the beginning there was love, devotion, and it appeared to be a match made in heaven. After 8 years, life together took a turn for the worse, resulting in a wedding dress designer losing rights to her birth name and all of her social media accounts. Why did this happen? She did not understand the employment contract she signed. During this presentation, we will discuss trademarks, registering names as trademarks, and what terms in the contract lead to Miss Hailey Page losing her name, her brand, and her business.
Jeanette M. Braun, Esq. is the founder of Braun IP Law, LLC. She is a second generation intellectual property practitioner and first generation attorney. She started working in her mother's patent firm (McManus & Associates) when she was in middle school and has held nearly every position in a law firm: legal secretary, paralegal, docket specialist, office manager, AP/AR, patent agent, and attorney. She understands the challenges of each role. She holds a B.S. in Chemistry and Minor in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a Juris Doctor from UIC-John Marshall Law School, and practices in a vast array of technology areas (mechanical, chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnological, and computer science).
