Remembering Laurie Roselle

Laurie Roselle, past President of NFPA and Indiana Paralegal Association has passed away. Laurie had been diagnosed in 2021 with ALS.

Chris Hansen reflects: “I first met Laurie at the NFPA Annual Meeting in 1985, hosted by the Illinois Paralegal Association at the Marriott Hotel on Michigan Avenue. She promoted the paralegal profession like no other.”

The State of the Paralegal Profession - Oct. 23

This year’s State of the Paralegal Profession presentation will highlight the diversity in regulation across the country and the varying approaches used to ensure competency and ethical standards within the profession. Michael Houlberg, Director of Special Projects at IAALS, the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System, will discuss lessons learned as states explore regulation. Michael will be joined this year by Nitasha Miller, an Arizona Legal Paraprofessional, will share details about her journey and current role as a Legal Paraprofessional.

The presentation will touch upon the evolving role of paralegals in the legal industry, emphasizing the increasing demand for specialized skills. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how regulation can impact career growth and professional development.

Tip from the Trenches is cancelled this October. Due to Thanksgiving, we will be meeting on the 3rd Wednesday in November.

Join us on your lunch hour for our final 2024 Tips from the Trenches where Gordon Ferguson will discuss "5 Minutes to File". What are those last minute items you ALWAYS check, no matter how little time you have, before submitting an e-filing? We’ll take a look at some things you can take a second look at to avoid annoyance, embarrassment, or even disaster.
