It's Renewal Time For Many IPA Members

Previously, IPA memberships were based on a calendar year, meaning that all members renewed on January 1st.  In January 2022, the Bylaws were changed to allow for rolling renewals.  However, the majority of IPA members still have expiration dates of December 31st.

Updates to Illinois Supreme Court Rules

As some of you may be aware there have been several updates to Illinois Supreme Court Rules in late January/early February.  We've attached links to the updates so you can become familiar with the changes.

M.R. 3140 Amended Rules 207 and 706

M.R. 24138 Illinois Rule of Evidence 803

M.R. 3140 Amended Rules 45, 90, 101, 218, 241, 286

Cook County Motion Call Annoucements

Just a tidbit of information we received on Cook County's Motion call from a couple of weeks ago:
  • Judge Schneider (Calendar D) is moving to a commercial calendar. She is being replaced by Judge Robert Harris (from muni).
  • Judge O’Hara is being replaced by Judge Scott McKenna, also from muni.
  • VERY IMPORTANT - there are apparently about 1800 cases without case management orders entered. These will be sent to 2005 for trial date assignments and then returned to the motion judges for focused cmc’s every 30 days. So if you don’t have a CMO on one of your cases, now would be the time to get one entered. It sounds like these will be shorter trial dates and these cases will then be a short leash. Word to the wise.
